Pearson Airport Taxi vs Limo

What is cheaper, airport taxi or Uber?

It depends on the hour. Rideshare undercuts the taxi line when demand is quiet and passes it when a wave of flights lands at once. An airport taxi charges a fixed fare by zone. A pre-booked limo is a flat rate you know before you fly: $85 by sedan to downtown Toronto.

An honest comparison

Three doors out of arrivals, three ways to pay

Every arrival at Pearson faces the same choice: the taxi line, the rideshare pickup zone, or a car booked before the flight. This page lays out how each one actually prices the trip. We run the third option, so read with that in mind. The comparison is still honest, because the taxi and the app genuinely win some trips, and we would rather tell you which ones.

The pricing mechanics

How each ride from YYZ decides its price

The vehicles look similar at the curb. The pricing underneath does not.

The fair verdict

Where the taxi or the app honestly wins

Short hops win in a cab. Five kilometres to an airport hotel with one carry-on? Take the taxi line and save yourself the booking. And at a quiet Tuesday 2 p.m., rideshare may be the cheapest car on the road. No pre-booked service beats those two trips, ours included.

Where the flat rate wins

  • Departures before dawn. At 4 a.m. the apps run thin and the schedule is yours to keep, not a driver's to accept.
  • Landing waves. When everyone else is surging or queueing, your fare was fixed weeks ago.
  • Groups and luggage. One SUV seats seven with bags. The same people need three separate app cars.
  • Expense reports. A flat rate is one clean line that finance approves without questions.
  • Long runs. A driver committed to a 130 km trip to Niagara Falls beats hoping one accepts it at the curb.

The fine print, since a fair comparison should show ours too: 13% HST goes on every fare. A prearranged airport pickup adds $13 for a sedan or SUV and $24 for a van or stretch. Meet and greet inside arrivals is $45.

Waiting after your flight lands is free, however long customs takes. Waiting on home pickups bills at $10 per 15 minutes. Cancellation is free up to 12 hours before pickup.

Questions

Questions people ask about taxis at Pearson

How much is a taxi from Pearson Airport?

It depends on where you are going. Airport taxis use fixed fares by destination zone rather than a running meter, and the fare list is posted at the terminal. For a number you know before you fly, our flat rates cover 112 Ontario cities, starting at $75 to Mississauga.

Can you get a taxi at Pearson Airport?

Yes. Licensed taxis wait outside arrivals at both terminals around the clock. Follow the ground transportation signs. When several flights land at once, expect a queue.

Is a taxi or Uber cheaper from Toronto airport?

At quiet hours, rideshare usually costs less than the taxi zone fare. During landing waves, surge pricing can push it well past the taxi. The taxi fare never moves, which is its whole appeal.

How much is a taxi to Pearson Airport?

City cabs heading to the airport run on the meter, so the fare depends on your start point and the traffic that day. Flat-rate cars price by city instead: $85 from downtown Toronto and $75 from Mississauga, fixed when you book.
